For my "Sacred Sunday" post this week, I'm sharing an oldie, but a goodie. Saint Michael was one of my first altered photos that I used professionally, and he still is... and probably will always be, one of my favorites. I love this statue. It stands at the old Our Lady of Victories Church, here in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. I am feeling a bit nostalgic lately, due to joining the Arts Guild of Woonsocket, and upgrading my knowledge of our rich local history. I wish I knew who sculpted this. It is beautiful. Saint Joan of Arc stands guard across the entrance ways from him. Both saints generals; one spiritual, one corporal; one heaven, one earth; might say... a little glitter... a little grunge ;)
Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
